I’ve been so busy churning out editions of LA Art Spot that I have neglected to check in on you all. How are you doing? 2024 has been a doozy huh?

I want to take this time and thank you so much for subscribing and showing interest in my newsletter. It has truly been heartwarming to see all the support for this crazy independent venture I decided to take. For some context, LA Art Spot started from a need to keep arts reporting going in LA after I got laid off from the Los Angeles Times. Local publications have been cutting back on arts coverage, leaving a lot of stories untapped. LA Art Spot started with a mission of highlighting one artist (or group) per week, offering a short profile that goes behind the scenes of a show, exhibition or work. Looking back on the months I spent talking to a variety of artists (from choreographers to visual artists to stunt choreographers) about what they’re working on, it’s been eye-opening to witness the talent in this city.
